Photopolymer manufacturing is sensitive to changes that may appear administratively small: oligomer supplier, photoinitiator lot, pigment, printer light engine, firmware, exposure algorithm, wash solvent, post-cure source or measurement method. Repeating every qualification test after every change is inefficient, but declaring equivalence from nominal specifications can be unsafe. This review develops a risk- and mechanism-based change-control architecture. The baseline is represented as a versioned material- process-measurement state. Each proposed change is mapped to the causal variables and failure modes it can affect, then assigned evidence depth ranging from documented rationale through focused bridging to partial or full requalification. Equivalence means that the changed state has been shown to remain within the released decision space for the affected characteristics; it is not supplier assertion or identical product name. NIST qualification work describes statistical, equivalence- and model-based paths that support this layered approach. The central conclusion is that requalification scope should be justified by sensitivity of retained evidence to the change, with conservative escalation when the mechanism or magnitude is uncertain.
