Gum-Arabic-Derived Crosslinkable Hydrogels: Acacia Identity, Methacrylation, Periodate Oxidation, DIW Network Attribution and Photocure Qualification
Segurola, Juan
Gum arabic (GA) is a structurally heterogeneous Acacia exudate. Kersten et al. quantified variation across twenty Acacia senegal samples. Gerola et al. prepared GMA-modified GA with substitution-dependent swelling and pH response. Ibrahim et al. reported GA/PEGDMA hydrogels formed by chemical free-radical polymerisation. Pandit et al. used periodate-modified GA to crosslink PVA, while Wang et al. reported a gum-Arabic-based three-dimensional printed hydrogel for customizable sensors. This review separates GA identity, derivative state, network ownership, printing mode and the still-unproven photocure/vat-transfer step.
