Mechanochemical Activation and Repair of Printed Photopolymer Networks: Force-Responsive Bonds, Local Chemistry and Verification
Segurola, Juan
Mechanochemistry couples macroscopic load to selective molecular reactions through force-sensitive bonds or mechanophores. In printed photopolymer networks this can provide damage reporting, trigger chemistry near a crack or potentially contribute to repair, but activation alone is not healing. This review distinguishes force transmission, mechanophore activation, product chemistry and restoration of mechanical function, and defines the measurements required to show causality from stress to local chemistry.
