This Engineering Review examines in-process insertion of prefabricated functional components into vat-photopolymerised parts through a pause-place-resume route. Direct SLA studies establish technical feasibility for specified printers, transparent methacrylate resins, component preparations and device geometries, while also identifying optical shadowing, local cure inhibition, restart-registration error, resin-flow and separation forces, cleaning challenges, shrinkage and incomplete sealing as qualification risks. The review defines a bounded framework covering component identity and orientation, interface geometry, placement accuracy, optical access, restart alignment, cleaning, post-cure, sealing and retained function. It does not propose universal compatibility, process windows or industrial-readiness claims.
