Photocurable Pectin-Derived Hydrogels: Botanical Identity, Esterification, Methacrylation and Norbornene Routes, Ionic-Photo Dual Networks, Hydration, Degradation and Qualification
Segurola, Juan
Photocurable pectin-derived systems include methacrylate-modified pectin combined with ionic pre-gelation, norbornene-functionalised pectin crosslinked with thiolated peptides, and hybrid dressings or bioinks in which pectin shares network ownership. Pereira et al. established a low-solids dual ionic-photo bioink and a separate thiol-norbornene platform; Giron-Hernandez et al. linked cocoa-pod extraction and esterification to pectin methacrylate; Bozer et al. studied a pectin/hyaluronic-acid hybrid. This review separates parent identity, derivatisation, formulation, network attribution, optical process, hydration, degradation and biological evidence.
